Vascular bundle in a cross section of a Crassula leaf

Legend:

xylem
3  chlorenchym cells
chloroplasts
2  phloem

English name: Jade plant, money tree
Scientific name: Crassula ovata
Familia: Crassulaceae
Classis: Dicotyledonas
Phylum: Angiospermae
Regnum: Plantae

The leaves of Crassula ovata contain much water. The cells have large vacuoles and the chloroplasts appear only in the edge (in the cytoplasm). There are numerous vascular bundles but these have a simple structure. The section clearly shows the annular thickenings of the xylem vessels. Phloem elements can be only distinguished from chlorenchym cells because of their small size and longitudinal shape.
